Dial A Ride Turlock (DART)

Fast service, just a phone call away!

Turlock Dial A Ride began service in 1975, and demand for general public transportation grew steadily since then with Turlock’s increasing population. To better meet that growing demand, in 1998 the BLAST fixed route service was created and Dial A Ride was given its new name.

Since that time, DART service continues to provide full service for people over 65 and those with disabilities. But for all other passengers, service on DART is now limited to only those trips going or coming from outside the BLAST service area (see map below) and to elementary students going to or from school.

Accessible Service

All DART buses are wheelchair accessible, but wheelchairs must be in good working order, and all wheelchairs must be secured to the bus. Our drivers are not allowed to push wheelchairs up or down inclines or over barriers. We encourage wheelchair users to remain in their chair and wear a lap belt during loading and unloading, as well as while riding on DART.

- Christmas Day (and the day before)

Service Area Boundaries

Inside the BLAST service area (shown on the map in white), DART service may be limited to seniors and passengers with disabilities. Please call 668-5600 for the details.

For the areas outside the BLAST service area but inside Turlock’s city limits (shown in blue), DART service is available to everyone at $2.50 per trip.

Outside the Turlock city limits (shown in red), DART service is available to everyone at $3.50 per trip.

Tips for DART Service

To schedule a trip on DART, you must call 668-5600 at least 2 hours ahead of the trip to guarantee your arrival on time.

Service is best provided when passengers make their reservations well before their scheduled time, and up to one day in advance is encouraged. Advanced scheduling helps DART coordinate service with other passengers going to or coming from the same area at that same time.

When you call, be prepared to tell the dispatcher where you want to be picked up, where you want to go, the time you want to be picked up or dropped off, and your local telephone number. This is also the best time to reserve your return trip back if you need one, so be prepared to do that. Because of the nature of the service, reservations are made in half-hour windows of time.

Please wait near the entrance of your pickup location and be visible to the driver in the bus. Our drivers are not allowed to enter a private residence and they must keep their vehicle in sight at all times.

Please be ready at your pick up time! Delays do add up, and can make us run late. So our drivers can wait only one minute for a passenger who’s not visible, unless the caller has made it clear that the passenger may require more time.

There is a three (3) shopping bag limit on DART. Please plan your shopping trips with this in mind.

Subscription Service

After using DART regularly for two weeks, you can request to be picked up from the same place at the same time every day. You can also arrange a regular return trip. Your subscription service will continue automatically until you ask for it to change. Please call to cancel whenever you won’t need the ride, or your subscription may be terminated.

DART reserves the right to refuse service to passengers who demonstrate unsafe or disruptive behavior. Violations of Turlock Transit rules (see BLAST page) may result in suspension and possible prosecution.
