FRIDAY NIGHT OUT SPORNSORED BY THE TURLOCK LIONS CLUB

This program is for youth and adults, 12 years and older with developmental disabilities. Programs are designed to promote socialization, independent functioning and recreational skills. Activities will include crafts, games, social time, refreshments and fun. This class runs the 3rd Friday of each month. SIGN UP AT CLASS

MARATHON MILE Kids & Families Fun Run

The Kids & Families Marathon is an incremental running program that has been designed to encourage kids and their families to exercise and begin a healthy lifestyle that will continue for years to come. Participating children grades K – 6, Teens and Adults will run a total of 26.2 miles (a full marathon distance) over a four-month period. Participants will be motivated to build endurance, increase self-confidence and learn to reach goals.

Participants will complete their final 1 mile during the Family Play Day on Saturday, April 24th at Donnelly Park Area M. Upon completing the marathon participants will receive a Marathon Finisher’s Medal and T-shirt, along with food and beverages.

A one mile run for kids is all about having fun! Kids 3 – 14 years can run, walk or jog the one-mile course. Everyone is a winner and each child that pre-registers gets an official race number, T-shirt and goodie bag.
(Kids can also complete a 25.2 mile training program by signing up for the Marathon Mile

Make a memory! Order a Special Occasion slide to run at a Movie Under the Stars event. Wish someone a “Happy Birthday” or a “Happy Anniversary” or advertise your business. Individual slides can be created to include an image and a maximum of 20 words. The slide will show for 6 seconds at a time, during the thirty minutes prior to the feature performance. The cost is $25.00 per slide, with a minimum number of slides available. Call 668-5594 to secure your slide for the spring movie series.

Join Turlock Recreation and the Turlock High Track team for a Youth Track Meet.
(Being held at the Dutcher Middle School Track)
Youth 7 – 14 can participate in Track and Field events. No experience is necessary.
Pick up registration forms beginning April 1st at the Recreation Office, on-line at cityofturlock.org or sign up at the event.

TURLOCK CITY ARTS COMMISSION

SUNNYSIDE UP TURLOCK
In celebration of the Arts and one of Turlock’s top agricultural industries, the Turlock City Arts Commission and the Turlock Downtown Property Owners Association will be partnering with local artists and community sponsors to present the Sunnyside Up public art display. The Sunnyside Up project invites artists of all ages and abilities, individuals, businesses and organizations to submit a proposal to create an Egg art piece. The eggs can be painted, decorated or creatively transformed through any artistic means. The eggs will then be exhibited throughout the city from April – August 2010. All eggs will be publicly auctioned off at the Sunnyside Up Festival to raise money to support City of Turlock art programs. Anyone interested in designing or sponsoring an egg can get more information and a proposal form on-line at sunnysideupturlock.com or by calling the Recreation Office at 668-5594.


3-DIMENSIONAL ART AT THE TOWER
The Turlock City Arts Commission is excited to announce a new show on view at the Tower Health and Wellness Center. This show will feature 3-dimensional work by 3 local artists.

TROY AND KELLY VISS
This exhibition showcases paintings by Troy and Kelly Viss, local brother and sister artists. This show will feature paintings which "focus on the nature of light in an abstraction of the traditional landscape". At the heart of the Viss' paintings, is the "intent to create art that people will want to live with, visit often, and rediscover at varying degrees of distance and resolution". Both artists have spent years painting and have participated in both group and solo exhibitions throughout the state.

2nd & 4th Tuesdays during City Council meetings at 7:00pm
