Industrial Pre-Treatment Program
The Industrial Pretreatment program is responsible for the monitoring, permitting, and enforcing Federal, State and Local regulations related to discharges into the sanitary sewer system. This program functions to protect the wastewater treatment system, and ensures that all substantial industrial customers are in compliance for a full range of permit requirements, annual inspections and customer relations.
The City’s staff manages a pretreatment program that consists of 28 permitted non-domestic dischargers. Eleven of the dischargers are classified as Significant Industrial Users (SIUs); none are classified as Categorical Industrial Users (CIUs). The remaining 17 permitted facilities are characterized as minor and include such dischargers as medical facilities, automotive-related businesses, and groundwater remediation sites. Secondary to these activities, this program works with the County and City's abatement division to eliminate illegal business activity and illegal discharges into the sanitary and storm water collection system.
