Public Facilities Maintenance
The Public Facilities Maintenance Division is responsible for the maintenance of streets and the administration of related programs within streets, street medians, storm basins, all government buildings, right-of-ways, and street trees within the City Limits.
The division is divided into three areas:
streets,
parks, and
buildings and grounds.
In 1996, the division initiated a flexible staffing program where the employees in this division were reclassified as "Maintenance Workers" instead of Street Maintenance Workers, Parks Maintenance Workers or Building and Grounds Maintenance Workers. This allowed the flexibility within the Division to meet the ever increasing workload as the City continued to grow and the division experienced continued cutbacks. Workers are now cross-trained so that they can work in any of the areas in the Maintenance Division as the need arises.
