Dog Licenses

The following information will help you obtain a dog license. Dog Licenses are issued by Animal Control.

Why License Your Dog?

California State Law requires it.
It is your dog's ticket home... If your dog gets lost, we can contact you immediately and get your dog right home to you!
It lets us know your dog has a current rabies vaccination.
It tells the world "You are a responsible pet owner!" You took the time and spent the money to make sure your dog has current vaccination and a license and would be returned to you if lost.

Dog License Requirements:

All dogs over the age of four (4) months must be vaccinated for rabies and licensed with the City of Turlock
Licenses can be purchased year round for a one, two or three year period. The expiration of the license will coincide with the expiration of the rabies vaccination.
It is suggested that cats be vaccinated for rabies when they reach the age of four (4) months. Cats do not require a license at this time.

Dog License Fee Schedule:

UNALTERED LICENSE		1 YEAR $100.00 2 YEAR $200.00 3 YEAR $300.00 BREEDER CERT. + $100.00 ea. annually

SPAY / NEUTER LICENSE:		1 YEAR $10.00 2 YEAR $15.00 3 YEAR $20.00

NOTE: There is a penalty fee of $35.00 added to the above license fees for late licenses. A late license is one that is not renewed within 30 days after the animal turns four months of age, 30 days after acquiring animal or failing to license their dog(s) within 30 days of moving into the City of Turlock.

Dog Vaccination Information:

Rabies, if untreated, is a fatal condition for both animals and humans alike. Rabies is still prevalent in Stanislaus County. State Law Mandates that all dogs over the age of 4 months must be vaccinated for rabies and owners must obtain a license to verify the immunization. License your animal for you and your pet’s protection.

Dog licenses expire in the same month as the rabies vaccination. Under no circumstances will a license period exceed the vaccination period.
