Professional Standards and Training

The Professional Standards and Training Unit is currently staffed with one Police Sergeant and three Background Investigators. The Professional Standards and Training Unit is responsible for Internal Affairs Investigations and/or Inquiries, Policy and Procedure Distribution, Public Information Officer (P.I.O.), Supervision of Background Investigation Unit, Ride-alongs and contested parking citations. In addition, the unit serves as the central point of contact for schools, service groups and general public to schedule programs, demonstrations, and other public type activities. The Sergeant in the unit also oversees the training for the police officers and serves as the ABC Liaison. The Professional Standards Unit also processes requests for police clearance and issuance for certain types of permits.
